What is topology optimization?

Topology optimization is a numerical simulation method based on the finite element method. Based on the available design space and predefined constraints as well as load cases, those areas are iteratively removed that are not relevant for the individual application. Thus, the optimization tool visualizes the force flow in the component and enables a customized and lightweight design.
